Gordon Research Conference on Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes for Glycan Conversions

addition : 22 septembre 2020.

Dates : July 21-26, 2019
Location : Proctor Academy, Andover, NH, USA

Meeting Description
The enzymes that deconstruct polysaccharides and in particular those of the plant cell wall Carbohydrate-active enzymes (CAZymes) transform diverse polysaccharides to renewable fuels, biochemicals, and bio-based materials, and are essential to the digestion of dietary glycans in food and feed. The expanding number of new CAZyme families relevant to plant biomass conversion motivated a small revision to the title of this successful conference established in 1999. The 2019 Gordon Research Conference, now titled “Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes for Glycan Conversions”, will present leading-edge research on this growing class of enzymes, which find applications in both industrial biotechnology and health sectors. The 2019 conference will offer exciting and complementary sessions on the enzymes and enzyme systems that transform land and aquatic polysaccharides via hydrolytic and oxidative mechanisms, with particular emphasis on protein-protein and protein-substrate interactions that influence bioconversion efficiency. Frontline research topics will cover latest insights into plant cell wall architecture that impact CAZyme action, enzyme cascades and multi-enzyme complexes from diverse natural habitats, emerging tools to accelerate CAZyme discovery and development, and novel applications of CAZymes in bio-based materials.

Application deadline
Applications for this meeting must be submitted by June 20, 2019. Apply early, as this meeting frequently become oversubscribed (full) before the deadline.

2nd LPMO symposium - November 7-9, 2018

addition : 8 février 2018.

Dates : November 7-9, 2018
Location : Marseille (France)

After the first successful meeting held in Copenhagen in 2016, the second LPMO symposium will be organized in Marseille (France) in November 2018 and will present cutting-edge research on this enlarging class of exciting enzymes, which are of great interest from a mechanistic point of view as well as for biotechnological applications. The 2018 symposium will be interdisciplinary, offering complementary sessions on the detailed chemistry of catalysis, enzyme diversity, enzymology and industrial applicability for the degradation and modification of polysaccharides.

Gordon Research Conference on Cellulases and Other Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes

addition : 17 janvier 2017.

Dates : July 23-28, 2017
Location : Proctor Academy, Andover, NH, USA

Meeting Description
The enzymes that deconstruct polysaccharides and in particular those of the plant cell wall share structural, mechanistic and evolutionary similarities whether for biofuels production, for digestion of dietary glycans or for myriads of other applications such as in food and feed processing. This realization has motivated a small change of title for this very successful conference established in 1999. The 2017 Gordon Research Conference now entitled "Cellulases and Other Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes" will present cutting-edge research on this broad class of enzymes which not only find applications in the industrial enzyme sector, but also in the health sector as they control the sensing and breakdown of dietary polysaccharides in the animal gut. The 2017 conference will offer complementary sessions on "traditional" lignocellulose degradation for biofuels and biorefinery, on the exciting enzymes that depolymerize polysaccharides via oxidative mechanisms, on the polysaccharide deconstruction in the digestive microbiota, and on the multiples approaches that lead to novel enzyme discovery and their complete mechanistic and structural characterization.

Application deadline
Applications for this meeting must be submitted by June 25, 2017. Apply early, as this meeting frequently become oversubscribed (full) before the deadline.

14th European Training Course on Carbohydrates - June 12-16, 2016

addition : 2 mars 2016.

14th European Training Course on Carbohydrates (Summer Course Glycosciences) in Groningen, The Netherlands, 12-16 June 2016.

This broad course in glycosciences combines general introductions in the field of carbohydrates and glycoproteins with in-depth parallel sessions. This gives participants the opportunity to focus on specific interests without losing a broad education. Prior to the start of the summer course detailed hand-outs will be available. All lecturers will be present for further discussion with participants. The programme is set up in such a way that about 20 to 25 % of the time is for discussions with experts and participants. The course is at graduate level.
